Madison- Representative Joel Kitchens (R-Sturgeon Bay) released the following statement after Governor Walker’s 2017-19 Budget Address:

“Today Governor Walker laid out his budget for the upcoming biennium. The framework the Governor has provided us with is a great first step towards crafting a budget that works for Wisconsin.

“I am proud the Governor is prioritizing K-12 education in this budget. The additional $649 million in funding will help continue the proud tradition of strong schools in Wisconsin. This budget invests more into K-12 education than any other budget in Wisconsin history.

“Additionally, the Governor has included funds to address the workforce shortage in Wisconsin. Providing Wisconsin citizens with the training they need to obtain family-supporting jobs will help reduce dependency on government and increase individual success.

“We are continuing to move Wisconsin in the right direction. I look forward to working with colleagues on both sides of the isle to improve upon the Governor’s budget over the upcoming months. The taxpayers of Wisconsin deserve a budget that works for them.”
