MADISON – Following Governor Scott Walker’s signing of the next state budget, State Representative Scott Krug (Rome) released the following statement:
”I’m incredibly thankful to the governor for putting forth and signing into law a budget that invests in the priorities of the hard working families of central Wisconsin. I’m tremendously proud to say this budget makes an historic investment in both our school and local initiatives while also holding down property taxes.
“In addition to the $636 million increase into our schools and classrooms, the state budget addresses a crucial infrastructure need in Wisconsin Rapids by funding the Alexander field improvements. An effort supported by local leaders, I’m proud to have championed this initiative to help bring economic growth that the area has not seen since the heyday of the paper industry.
“Another Central Wisconsin win in the state budget is funding for the hydrology analysis put in place by Senate Bill 76. This is not just any hydrology analysis, this will be the largest hydrology analysis in Wisconsin history. By having this study funded by the state we can use the scientific data collected to better approach finding creative solutions to high capacity well problems in Central WI and other areas around the state.
“Without the understanding and collaboration with Governor Walker, the recovery of Central Wisconsin would be delayed. I am excited to see this transformation unfold as the items in the budget are implemented. I truly could not be more pleased.”
