CONTACT STATE REPRESENTATIVE JOHN MACCO (608) 266-0485

Madison…Representative John Macco (R-Ledgeview) released the following statement on the passing of his friend, Representative Bob Gannon:

“I am honored to have known my colleague Bob Gannon, not just in a professional way but in a personal way,” said Rep. Macco. “During my first two years in the legislature Bob was my seatmate. But more importantly, Bob was a regularly attending member of our Wednesday morning Bible study in the Capitol. For those that didn’t know him he could seem gruff and unfiltered. But in knowing him deeper I found a tender heart genuinely concerned for his wife and his family, his constituents and especially disadvantaged inner-city youth. He genuinely enjoyed chairing the committee that was charged to digging into those issues.”

Rep. Gannon passed away on Tuesday night. He was 58 years old.

“I know that he love the Lord, and in a private moment I’ve seen him break down and cry,” continued Rep. Macco. “Yet like the apostle Paul in Romans 7 he fought against living within the shortcomings of this world. But there is no doubt in my mind that Bob also came to the conclusion of the apostle Paul when he said in verse 8 of Romans, ‘there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.’

“I take great solace imagining Bob and my good friend Tom Larson catching up.”
