Madison – On Wednesday, State Representative John Nygren (R-Marinette) released the following statement regarding Assembly passage of two final Special Session bills aimed at combatting drug abuse and addiction:
“The Special Session bills approved by the Assembly yesterday will help save more lives and connect those who suffer from addiction with the treatment they need. We’ve taken important steps to get people out of the active drug use cycle. Getting out of this cycle is the first step to recovery, and I believe these proposals will be the push some people’s lives depend on.
“The ultimate goal is to save lives and help as many people as possible succeed in recovery. We have come a long way, but there is still more work to be done. I look forward to continuing a strong partnership with the medical community, law enforcement, my fellow elected officials, and recovery advocates as we continue fighting this epidemic.”
The Special Session bills approved today were recommended to Governor Walker by the Co-Chairs of the Governor’s Task Force on Opioid Abuse, Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and State Rep. John Nygren.
