Madison – On Saturday, State Representative John Nygren (R-Marinette), Assembly Co-Chair of the budget-writing Joint Committee on Finance, released the following statement regarding the approval of Stewardship grant funds for the City of Marinette:
“This week, the Joint Finance Committee approved $440,500 in grant funding from the Stewardship program to go toward the construction of boating facilities at Menekaunee Harbor Park in Marinette. These funds will go to support an ongoing project to develop the harbor, promoting easier public access for boaters and other outdoor sportsmen and women.
“Located in the City of Marinette, this harbor is a great access point to the Menominee River and the Great Lakes. The grant funding will go to support 12 new boat slips, a permanent restroom, new signage, and more. With these improved facilities, the Menekaunee Harbor will be able to accommodate more visitors and better support northeast Wisconsin’s tourism industry.
“Congratulations to the City of Marinette for securing the funding necessary to continue this project. I look forward to seeing the improvements at the harbor as the next phase of this development gets underway.”
