Madison—State Representative John Nygren (R-Marinette), Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Finance released the following statement after attending the State Budget Signing with Governor Walker at Tullar Elementary School in Neenah:
“I was happy to attend today’s budget bill signing today with Governor Walker and colleagues from both the Assembly and Senate. The last nine months were a long, intense process, but have resulted in a budget bill that makes me proud and represents the families and taxpayers of Wisconsin well.
“This budget will continue to hold the line on taxes, direct historic levels of K-12 funding into the classroom and expand educational opportunities for our most vulnerable students. There is something in this budget to help everyone and I believe it is an easy budget to support.
“While the budget process can evoke tense emotions from everyone, I know that it comes from a passion and enthusiasm towards crafting a budget that we can all be proud of. We don’t agree on everything, but that is how the process works. I look forward to continuing to develop new ideas and search for innovative ways to solve problems with colleagues on both sides of the aisle, in the Senate, and in the Executive Branch. I hope to explore all available options to continue to help Wisconsin families and schools.
“I’d also like to thank the hard work of the members and staff of the Joint Committee on Finance, my Senate Co-Chair Senator Albert Darling, and everyone at the Legislative Fiscal Bureau.”
