MADISON – State Representative Jessie Rodriguez, R-Oak Creek, released the following statements after Gov. Walker unveiled his recommendations for the 2017-19 biennial budget before a joint session of the Wisconsin State Legislature:

“Today, Gov. Walker outlined a bold, bright proposal that positions Wisconsin for success. The governor’s recommendations are in-line with Assembly Republican’s commitments to K-12 education, college affordability, and mental health resources for schools in addition to investments on worker training programs.

“Throughout the past year, I have traveled throughout my district and residents have expressed the need to invest in education and continue strengthening programs that will help develop our workforce for the future. Increasing state support for the development of Fab Labs, like the one at South Milwaukee High School, will provide a needed benefit exposing students to careers in engineering, math, technology and arts by using the equipment common in those fields.

“In the coming months, I’m looking forward to discussing the recommendations with members of my district and improving on them. As we have done in the last three sessions, we will craft a budget that benefits our constituents and continues moving Wisconsin Forward.”
