GOP’s bill banning project labor agreements hurts hardworking Wisconsinites
(MADISON) – Representative Melissa Sargent (D-Madison) blasted Wisconsin Assembly Republicans today for passing AB24, which prohibits state and local government projects from requiring contract bidders to enter into project labor agreements.
“I wish I could say I’m surprised, but after six years of waging war on Wisconsin workers, passing bills that hurt hardworking people in our state is the least surprising thing Wisconsin Republicans do anymore.”
Project labor agreements are collective bargaining agreements establishing employment terms and conditions for specific projects, such as minimum wages, overtime rules, and union representation.
“Families across Wisconsin are struggling to stay in the middle class and to provide for their families,” Rep. Sargent said. “Wisconsin workers are the true profit creators building our economy, and we need an economy that works for all of us. We know that we all do better when we all do better. Republicans need to stop attacking the hardworking people of our state—just let Wisconsin work.”
Melissa Sargent is a State Representative in the Wisconsin Assembly, representing the 48th Assembly District, which covers the east and north sides of the city of Madison and the town of Maple Bluff.
