Madison – “I was shocked and saddened to learn this morning of the untimely death of State Representative Bob Gannon (R-West Bend).

“Rep. Gannon was a colleague whom, against the odds, I’d come to regard as a kind of kindred spirit in our general approach to public life — a straightforward and not always popular willingness to state one’s truth.

“Despite our early clashes, I also came to respect Rep. Gannon’s belief that we have a duty to work to correct social injustices in our communities. While he and I usually disagreed on the means to that end, I believe he felt genuinely committed to this purpose.
He felt led therefore to energetically chair the Urban Revitalization Committee this session, on which I appreciated serving with him.

“The State Assembly will be a less lively and thought-provoking place without Representative Gannon.

“I especially extend my condolences to Rep. Gannon’s wife and family at this difficult time.”
