Wisconsin Department of Tourism awards grant for the first ever Hmong Wausau Festival

Madison…Yesterday, the Wausau Hmong American Center received $10,000 in grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism to fund the Hmong Wausau Festival. The Hmong Wausau Festival has been in planning for over two years and will feature a number of competitions and performances throughout the weekend. Following the receipt of the grant funds, Rep. Patrick Snyder (Schofield) released the following statement:

“I am proud to represent the Wausau area that is home to thousands of Hmong Americans. This festival is an excellent opportunity to showcase the art, music, and sports that make the Hmong culture so unique.

“I encourage anyone and everyone to put this on their calendar. Not only will the festival present the rich Hmong culture that is dispersed throughout our area, it will also showcase the city of Wausau and all that is has to offer.”

The Hmong Wausau Festival will take place on July 29 and 30 at the Eastbay Sports complex and is expected to attract around 5,000 people. The festival will be funded in part through the multicultural grant from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism.
