Madison, Wisconsin – Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) and Rep. Adam Neylon (R-Pewaukee), chairman of the Assembly Committee on Jobs and the Economy released the following statement today regarding the timeline of August 2017 Special Session Assembly Bill 1:

“Last week, during the public hearing held by the Assembly Committee on Jobs and the Economy, we heard firsthand how transformational this legislation and a partnership with Foxconn will be for Wisconsin,” said Steineke. “As Assembly Republicans continue to work with Governor Walker on passing this important legislation, we want to make sure we’re getting this done in a prudent manner.”

“Since our hearing, our committee has entertained a number of ideas for how this legislation can be made better,” added Neylon. “Working with members from both sides of the aisle, I remain committed to finding workable solutions as we look to enhance this bill.”

“Today, Assembly leadership has asked chairman Neylon to continue to work with our colleagues on ways to make this bill even stronger,” said Steineke. “I fully expect that after taking the weekend to review potential amendments, we will see a committee vote early in the week and the bill on the Assembly floor as soon as August 17th.”
