Madison…Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) is pleased to announce that Frank Lamping of Union Grove has been selected to receive the Wisconsin Hometown Hero Award, the Assembly’s highest citizen recognition award. Lamping who is a former Citizen of the Year in Union Grove recently entered the Green Bay Packers Fan Hall of Fame.

“Frank dedicates himself not only to his beloved team, but also to his community,” said Speaker Vos. “He represents all that is good in Wisconsin; you could say this is his `George Bailey’ moment.”

Lamping is the President of the Union Grove Lions Club and has held almost every position in the service organization.  He’s also a liaison for the Union Grove Recreation Department, a member in several genealogy groups, and was an Honor Flight guardian for a Korean War veteran.  Lamping also is fighting a courageous battle with prostate cancer.

“The impact that he’s had on the greater Union Grove community is simply amazing; the citizens of the state should stop and take notice,” said Speaker Vos. “Here’s a man who is battling cancer and yet, he continues to share his time, talents and passion with others. He’s been a role model and continues to bring the community closer together.”
