[Madison, WI]—Yesterday the Republican Party of Wisconsin filed a complaint against declared Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate, Tim Burns, for campaigning without a committee.  Burns, a liberal Madison attorney, has sent numerous fundraising appeals citing a campaign committee that does not exist, a direct violation of state law.
“While Madison liberal Tim Burns preaches judicial ethics, he’s kicked off his campaign by violating the law,” said Alec Zimmerman, spokesman for the Republican Party of Wisconsin. “Wisconsinites deserve someone they can trust on the state’s highest court, not someone who is struggling to follow even the simplest of campaign finance laws. Tim Burns’ conduct calls into question his very qualification for the position.”
Burns spent the better part of the month fraudulently fundraising to a campaign committee that doesn’t even exist.  Various e-solicits were sent out using the disclosure “Paid for by Burns for Wisconsin” a campaign committee that has not been registered with the Wisconsin Ethics Commission.
