“Democracy is at risk when money buys politicians and politicians choose voters through extreme gerrymandering and voter suppression,” said Chuck Ogg of the Rock County Progressives. “Therefore we are excited to have Joel Rogers of Our Wisconsin Revolution (OWR) speaking on Wisconsin Choice, an exciting campaign seeking to to turn this around by elevating progressive issues and the qualities that the majority want to see in our next governor and elected leaders. This Campaign brings together three grassroots organizations, Citizen Action of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Working Families Party, and OWR which grew out of the Bernie Sanders campaign for president.

“Joel Rogers is the Sewell-Bascom Professor of Law, Political Science, Public Affairs, and Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he also directs COWS, a national high-road strategy center. Rogers has written extensively on politics and democracy. He is a contributing editor of The Nation and the Boston Review, and was identified by Newsweek as one of the 100 living Americans most likely to shape U.S. politics and culture in the 21st century.

“This event will be held on Wednesday, November 8 at the Basics Cooperative Natural Foods Store in Janesville. This is an independent event not affiliated with Basics. The speaker will begin at 6:30 PM, doors will open at 6 PM. This event is free and open to the public.”
