(MADISON) – State Senator Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee), released the following statement regarding the release of the Foxconn contract on Monday 11/6/17 at 11:11 AM, to the Board of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).

“I am certainly glad that WEDC has come to the conclusion, even at this late date, that allowing the members of the WEDC Board to review the Foxconn contract is a logical step in ensuring that this deal is sound for the taxpayers. However, I fear that by stalling until Monday, and with the long and controversial session of the State Senate on Tuesday, there will be little time for purposeful scrutiny. I am looking forward to reviewing all of the vast materials released by WEDC today in preparation for this vote on Wednesday. I still view my role on the WEDC Board to be the protection and safeguarding of taxpayer funds. With that in mind, I will be scrutinizing this particular contract very, very closely. I also expect this moment to represent a sea-change in the way WEDC conducts its business and I call on the leadership of WEDC to commit to greater transparency and accountability.”
