Madison, WI — Today, State Senator David Craig (R-Town of Vernon) applauded Governor Scott Walker’s Executive Order creating an Office of the Inspector General within the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT). He released the following statement:
“Placing an Inspector General in the DOT is the type of proactive, systemic reform that has been desperately needed at the agency. I have long encouraged the adoption of this proven tool for rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse. I applaud Governor Walker for challenging the status quo within the agency and providing the tools necessary to protect taxpayers from further abuse.
“This a great first step, but the key to taxpayer accountability will be requiring the Inspector General to report to the legislature as well.”
Senator Craig represents the 28th Senate District which includes parts of Waukesha, Milwaukee, Racine, and Walworth counties.
