WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, met with Mexico’s ambassador to the United States, Geronimo Gutierrez, Thursday to discuss recent incidents involving American tourists in Mexico, including the death of Pewaukee native Abbey Conner and injuries sustained by her brother Austin Conner.

In addition, Senator Johnson recently sent a letter to the Office of the Inspector General urging it to examine how the U.S. State Department monitors, records and reports overseas incidents involving physical abuse or death after the potential consumption of tainted alcohol.
