Madison, Wisconsin – On Thursday, State Senator Frank Lasee (R-De Pere), issued the following statement upon Governor Walker signing the 2017-2019 State Budget into law:
“I am proud to stand with Governor Walker with my support of the 2017 Act 59, the budget. Anytime a budget cuts property taxes, doesn’t raise sales or income taxes, and increases the state’s investment in K-12 education to the largest amount of funding in state history it will have my support.
From $11 million for rural broadband expansion grants to University of Wisconsin and Wisconsin Technical College Systems tuition freezes the budget will affect the lives of all Wisconsinites. This budget keeps the long arm of government out of taxpayers’ wallets.”
“I am pleased that 2017 Act 59 includes items that will have a direct impact on the constituents of the first Senate District. The $3.2 million grant for dock construction and dredging projects in the Sturgeon Bay Harbor will help create jobs. The budget includes funding for studying the amount and impact of farm and other nutrients in the rivers of Door, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Sheboygan and Ozaukee Counties. The new budget includes funding for rebuilding historic Eagle Tower at Peninsula State Park.
The 2017-2019 budget continues Wisconsin on the path of fiscal responsibility and sensible investment Governor Walker started when he took office during January of 2011. I look forward to continuing to work with Governor Walker and my legislative colleagues for a fiscally-sound Wisconsin that invests in its citizens.” Lasee said.
