Madison – Today, Senator Devin LeMahieu (R-Oostburg) issued the following statement following Governor Walker’s Budget Address:
“Governor Walker’s 2017-19 budget continues to build on past reforms. Key provisions include: nearly $600 million in overall tax relief including eliminating the state portion of the property tax, investing more money in public education, and increased funding for local roads.”
“I am excited to see that the Governor included several bills that I have been working on in the state budget. The REINS Act will add legislative oversite on expensive rules, protecting tax payers and businesses. The “back to school” sales tax holiday will exempt school supplies from sales tax and save Wisconsin families $11 million a year.”
“The Governor’s budget proposal provides a good starting point for our state. Over the next few months, the Legislature will be carefully reviewing all provisions of the biennial budget. I look forward to hearing constituent feedback and working to pass the best budget possible for the state and 9th Senate District.”
