MADISON – State Senator Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) offered the following statement regarding the Senate GOP Budget Plan that was released today:
“The Republicans in the State Senate released our proposed plan to finish the state budget today.
As a member of the Joint Finance Committee, I know how much hard work and careful consideration has gone into this budget process so far and I am proud of everything we have accomplished.
The plan released today includes the work done by the JFC and ideas generated within our caucus to continue moving the budget process forward.
Our plan includes the full repeal of three taxes, increased funding for education, especially for our rural schools, and infrastructure throughout the state.
We are providing measurable tax relief while funding state-government operations. I am encouraged by the Senate’s continued effort to work together on this budget plan and I am proud to make progress on behalf of rural Wisconsin..”
