Sen. Steve Nass (608) 266-2635

Senator Steve Nass (R-Whitewater) issued the following statement on the tax and transportation plan issued by the Assembly Republicans today:

“The Legislative Fiscal Bureau papers analyzing the plan make two things abundantly clear about the overall impact of this plan in the 2017-2019 biennium: (1) it would increase what consumers pay in taxation on gasoline by $382 million overall; and (2) the income tax changes would lead to many middle class families actually paying more in state taxes in this biennium and next.  I can’t support adding the state sales tax on gasoline and won’t support any budget that increases state income taxes on middle class families.”
