Historic investment in K-12 funding and tax relief
MADISON – Senate President Roger Roth (R—Appleton) issued the following statement on the Senate passage of the 2017-2019 Wisconsin State Budget.
“Here in Wisconsin we have worked to find the best ways to invest in education, infrastructure and property tax relief. The strong reforms passed in previous sessions have laid the groundwork for where we are today – being able to reinvest those dividends toward growing a vibrant economy for Wisconsin families.
“Whether you’re a property owner, blue collar worker, small business owner, or senior, this budget provides tax relief that will move our state forward.
“We’re bringing more jobs to the state, and recognize we must also invest in our workforce to insure they are receiving the best education and training to find family-supporting careers.
“This budget provides more K-12 funding than ever before and the extended two-year tuition freeze for UW system students keeps higher education affordable for Wisconsin students and working families.
“I have listened to constituents to prioritize what is most important as it shows we’re committed to moving our state forward.”
