Governor Walker’s budget will lead Wisconsin forward.
Madison, WI – Senator Duey Stroebel (R-Cedarburg) released the following statement after the passage of the state budget:
It was important for the Senate to ensure the final budget product has common-sense reforms that enhance good public policy. After a call with Governor Walker, I feel comfortable with the final product he will sign into law.
There is the repeal of multiple taxes including the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT), internet tax, and state forestry tax. Additionally, the budget expands the statewide school choice program, repeals prevailing wage, and puts WisDOT on the path to sanctioning more reforms.
When I ran for the State Senate, my priorities were passing right to work, repealing prevailing wage, and abolishing the personal property tax. With Right to Work already established law, this budget completes the repeal of the prevailing wage and goes a long way towards ending the personal property tax.
This budget will be made better with Governor Walker vetoes.
