MADISON, Wis. — State Sen. Leah Vukmir, R–Brookfield, Wednesday issued a statement of support for Sen. Tom Tiffany’s and Rep. Rob Hutton’s Mining for America bill that would lift the moratorium on gold, silver and nickel mining:
“I am ready to vote for the Mining for America bill, and I encourage my colleagues to join me in supporting it. This bill will give a much-needed spark to northern Wisconsin’s economy through the mining industry while doing it in a way that respects the environment.
“As we did for Foxconn, it’s time for us to come together and realize the significant ripple effects this pro-jobs bill will have for working Wisconsinites — this time, in northern Wisconsin. We have an incredible opportunity to tap into our deposits and revitalize the economy in the north; we can’t pass this up.
