Brookfield, Wis. — Republican U.S. Senate candidate and Wisconsin state Sen. Leah Vukmir issued the following statement on Monday, Sept. 11:
“Sixteen years ago, we saw the deadliest attack on American soil. That day our nation changed, determined to show our families, friends and the world our best. Despite the darkness, our military, police, firefighters and first responders ran toward the smoke and became a symbol of  hope for our country.

“9/11 inspired my son, Nicholas, to join the U.S. Army where he now serves as a first lieutenant. Many like him serve our country, and they don’t just do it on days of national crisis, they serve every day.

“Today, I want to thank those across Wisconsin and America who make it their life’s mission to defend our nation and protect our communities. In the face of terrorism and danger, they don’t turn away. Instead, they ensure the promises of freedom and keep us safe from harm.”
