On Tuesday, June 14th, 2017 at about 3:45 p.m. a tornado warning was issued for eastern Shawano County. Authorities immediately began receiving damage reports including:

Structural damage to homes and outbuildings, road blockage, power lines down. The extent of this damage will be formally assessed following rendering of any emergency assistance that may be needed. The storm tracked northeast primarily through the towns of Lessor, Maple Grove, and Angelica. Law Enforcement and Emergency Responders from multiple volunteer agencies are currently assessing damage and moving from home to home to check for injuries.

Eastern Shawano County is receiving a significant amount of rainfall and initial reports are indicating that road conditions are hazardous with some reports of damage to primary and secondary roadways. The public is being asked to avoid this area until further notice. The Shawano County Highway Department and Local Towns are monitoring these situations.

A temporary reception center has been established at the Town of Lessor Town Hall for displaced residents. Any residents in need of services are asked to report to the Town Hall located at W4055 Landstad Road.

The public should remain vigilant to rapidly changing and potentially hazardous conditions involving structural damage to roadways, obstruction or downed power lines, if travelling. Motorists are advised not to travel through flooded roadways.
