Fitchburg – Hundreds of Fitchburg residents, including Dr. Jasmine Zapata, are
endorsing Wanda Smith’s candidacy for Fitchburg Alder, District 1, Seat 2.
Local physician, business owner, community leader and youth mentor, Dr. Zapata
offered strong support of Smith’s candidacy writing, “I have had the pleasure of
working with her one-on-one in a variety of community settings and she is
absolutely amazing! She is passionate and committed. She has an extremely giving
heart and is a fearless advocate for children and families, which is extremely
appreciated and needed in our community. I have been working alongside her with
youth in the King James Way area and have personally witnessed the true impact
she has had on their lives! She is sincere and genuine. I am blessed to have her in
my life and I am a proud Fitchburg resident who is excited about the prospect of
her representing my community in the near future.”
District 1 Resident JoAnn Brown shared Dr. Zapata’s enthusiasm with this to say:
“Wanda’s dedication and passion for helping young people reach their fullest
potential is inspiring. She is the definition of the village mother – she cares for her
village and its people because she wants her village to be great. Our Jamestown
neighborhood deserves better and Wanda Smith is it.” Howanda Jenneh chimed in
with these poetic words of support: “If I can say something short and sweet about
this lady I would say she’s strong, selfless – everything in between. This lady right
here is the real thing!”
Resident, Benjamin Iwuagwu shared a simple sentiment that resonates strongly
within Smith’s district writing, “A Vote for Wanda is a vote for the people.”
Smith and her team successfully led the effort to procure a park and founded a
pilot community center where she and a crew of volunteers run a homework club
for neighborhood students that meets multiple times a week.
