Yesterday, President Trump was asked about the GOP tax blueprint, and he rightfully noted it’s all about jobs.

“It could lead to a lot more jobs in the United States,” the president told Reuters.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer echoed that sentiment at his daily briefing yesterday as well. “That benefits our economy, it helps American workers, it grows the manufacturing base,” Spicer said.

They’re absolutely right.

Just this week, a broad coalition of American business leaders came out strongly in support of our tax reform agenda. In a letter to Congress, they explain how the proposal would level the playing field for our businesses and incentivize them to jobs back from overseas: “This reform is consistent with the tax policies of nearly every other country in the world, and it would effectively end the ‘Made in America’ tax that creates and unfair advantage for foreign-based companies at the expense of U.S. jobs and economic growth.”

This followed a new report from the nonpartisan Tax Foundation that found how these reforms would help the United States leapfrog the rest of the world in terms of tax code competitiveness.

It’s been over thirty years since we last overhauled our tax code. The system we have today is broken, but we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to fix it. We are determined to get this done on behalf of the American people.
