(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-Glenbeulah) today released the following statement after President Trump announced the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court:
“I was elated to hear that President Trump picked Judge Neil Gorsuch as his Supreme Court nominee.
“Gorsuch’s education and track record as a conservative voice on the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Colorado makes him a worthy choice to inherit the seat left by Justice Scalia. During his career, Gorsuch has staunchly defended the Constitution, working to cut back regulations and supporting religious freedom rights.
“The Supreme Court has made decisions upholding Obamacare and Affirmative Action programs, as well as questionable decisions on government housing. It has become a court that James Madison and our Founding Fathers did not intend when they wrote the Constitution.
“Those who voted for President Trump because of their confidence in his ability to nominate a capable and thoughtful Supreme Court justice will not be disappointed. Gorsuch’s brand of conservatism will help create a limited government, and a government fit for a moral and religious people.”
