WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) issued the following statement Monday after voting to reconfirm Ajit Pai to serve as a commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC):
“Chairman Pai’s deep knowledge and experience at the FCC is invaluable. During his tenure he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to closing the digital divide in Wisconsin and in rural areas across America. I look forward to working with him as he continues to bring more access and choice to consumers as chairman of the Federal Communications Commission.”
Earlier this year, Chairman Pai joined Senator Johnson in Wisconsin to meet with local broadcasters and broadband providers to discuss ways to improve access for people in rural parts of the state. Sen. Johnson and Chairman Pai also recorded a podcast on the issue, which can be found here.
