Menomonie, Wis. — The Wisconsin Association of Colleges for Teacher Education has recognized a recent graduate from University of Wisconsin-Stout.
Haley Hesselberg, who graduated in 2015 with a degree in marketing and business education, recently received a WACTE Early Career Educator Award for 2017.
The award, presented in early April in Madison, is given to teachers who are in the first three
years of their career and is based on the teacher’s positive impact in the school and community, innovation in the classroom and advocacy for students.
Hesselberg teaches marketing and business at Holmen High School, near La Crosse.
“Haley has a positive impact on Holmen High School and the community while delivering innovative learning experiences in the classroom and beyond. Haley goes above and beyond by advising the co-curricular DECA organization,” her award states.
“Through Haley’s leadership as co-adviser, this organization completes leadership, civic and vocational activities. Haley combines state and national standards along with DECA performance indicators to provide students with relevant instruction. Her hard work pays off in students being engaged in her classroom. This is also reflected in the motivation for students to want to be involved in DECA outside of the classroom.”
After beginning her career at Tomah High School, Hesselberg joined the Holmen School District in fall 2016.
