University of Wisconsin-Stout photographer Brett Roseman and a book about UW-Stout’s history recently received national recognition.
Roseman received third place in the Printed Advertisement category of the University Photographers’ Association of America contest. Roseman took photos of students for a series of three “Ready” ads that stress UW-Stout’s career preparation for students and 97.4 percent employment rate for recent graduates.
Roseman works for University Marketing and for University Communications.

In the Specialty Books category, an honorable mention was awarded to “An Idea Comes of Age: UW-Stout, 1891-2016,” written by Jerry Poling, University Communications assistant director.
Roseman took the cover photo and several other photos for the 498-page book, which included about 140 photos overall.
The book was published in December during UW-Stout’s 125th anniversary year. It is available online and at bookstores locally, including Stoutfitters in the Memorial Student Center at UW-Stout.
The awards were presented at the UPAA’s 56th annual Technical Symposium held in June in Moscow, Idaho, and hosted by the University of Idaho and Washington State University.
The UPAA is “dedicated to the application and practice of photography as it relates to higher education” and “represents the very best in higher education photography from the best photographers,” according to its website.
