Oconomowoc, Wis. — State Rep. Joel Kleefisch issued the following statement Thursday regarding his endorsement of Leah Vukmir for the U.S. Senate race against Sen. Tammy Baldwin in 2018:
“I’ve gotten to know Leah Vukmir while working with her in the state Capitol, and one thing’s for sure: You always know what you’re getting with Leah. Leah is a straight-shooter who doesn’t tell her constituents one thing and then fight for the opposite. She is a solid conservative who won’t cave and flip-flop under political pressure.
“She’s proven during Act 10 in the face of death threats that she has a spine of steel. She has fought to unshackle workers from paying union dues. She has fought for special-needs kids to get access to better schools. She has fought to protect the unborn and ensure that taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars are being well spent. She has fought for your right to arm yourselves and protect your homes. Her record of wins is proof that we can count on her in the future.
“Now, Leah is running for the Senate to make a difference — not just to fill a seat or fulfill a childhood dream. She is still the same principled woman who jumped into politics because she was fed up with what she was seeing in her daughter’s classroom. (Let me tell you, some of the most driven people I know in politics are moms on a mission.) And because she’s running for the U.S. Senate for our children and grandchildren, she’ll stop at nothing to achieve success.
“The same can’t be said of our current senator, Tammy Baldwin. Sen. Baldwin has little-to-no accomplishments and isn’t fighting for us. Her inaction has caused Obamacare to implode, veterans to be mistreated in Tomah and our debt to reach more than $20 trillion. She spends most of her time looking out for liberal Washington elites, not those of us she is supposed to represent.
“We need a senator who is looking out for us, for Wisconsin. Leah won’t give up, and she won’t back down. That’s exactly the kind of person we need fighting for us in Washington, and that’s why I am proud to endorse Leah Vukmir in the race for U.S. Senate.”
Leah Vukmir is a nurse, military mom and conservative with a proven record of reform who is running to bring the Wisconsin Way to Washington. She currently serves as a state senator from Brookfield.
