[Madison, Wis.] – Gov. Scott Walker today formally announced his plans to seek re-election in 2018 and keep moving Wisconsin forward, saying “there’s more to be done” even after the strong record of results he has delivered with bold reform.
“Today there are more people working than ever before, property and income taxes will be lower in 2018 than they were in 2010, and we’re making historic investments in our classrooms,” Gov. Walker said. “We’ve come a long way together in the fight for hard-working families, but there’s more to be done and I’m ready to keep moving Wisconsin forward with more bold reform.”

Joined by Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, as well as his wife, Tonette, and sons Matt and Alex, the governor made his announcement at Weldall Manufacturing., Inc. in Waukesha, kicking off his 2018 campaign with hundreds of supporters. In the coming days, the governor will crisscross the entire state, making more than a dozen stops in every corner of Wisconsin to talk about his record of delivering results and plans to keep Wisconsin’s future bright.
The governor continued, “The time has come to build on Wisconsin’s comeback and deliver even more results for hard-working families. Helping people create jobs, putting more money back into your pocket, developing our workforce, and continuing record investment in our schools – these are all things we can do thanks to our reforms and our shared desire to keep reforming, keep fighting, and keep winning for our state.”

The governor’s record of results includes:

· Balancing the state budget without raising taxes and turning Wisconsin’s $3.6 billion deficit into a surplus.

· Leading Wisconsin’s economic comeback, with more Wisconsinites working than ever before and near-record low unemployment.

· Cutting taxes some $8 billion since taking office, including the elimination of an entire tax – the state property tax.

· Reducing property taxes so they’re lower in 2018 than in 2014 and 2010, and income taxes so they’re lower in 2018 than in 2010.

· Taking Wisconsin from the Bottom 10 for business to the Top 10 for business, for the first time ever.

· Encouraging major job creation in Wisconsin, including the largest economic development project in state history – Foxconn Technology Group.

· Making historic investments in our classrooms, with more actual dollars in K-12 than ever before.

· Freezing University of Wisconsin tuition six years in a row to help students and hard-working Wisconsin families afford a quality education.
