Madison – The Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA) applauds Governor Scott Walker and the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) for providing amended loan guarantees with more favorable terms to eligible dairy farmers and milk processors in response to the current trade dispute with Canada.

“Wisconsin’s dairy farmers are an important sector of our state’s economy and Governor Walker’s proactive efforts to help them during this difficult time are to be commended,” said Rose Oswald Poels, WBA President and CEO. “Wisconsin’s agricultural lenders have been working with their dairy clients to help them navigate through this challenging situation and appreciate any assistance that will provide some measure of relief to those affected by this recent trade dispute.”

The banking industry has worked with Governor Walker as well as WHEDA and DATCP on improving conditions for dairy farmers and milk processors throughout the state. The WBA looks forward to continuing to work with all agencies on this issue moving forward.
