Madison – The Department of Administration’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended 2016 has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).  The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.“Every day, we strive to make state government more accountable to the taxpayers we serve,” Secretary Scott Neitzel said.  “Last week, Wisconsin received a historic upgrade in our state’s general obligation rating which is an excellent indicator of fiscal stability.  Today’s news that we are receiving recognition for excellence in financial reporting is another indicator that Wisconsin is working”

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
