CAMP DOUGLAS, Wis. – Leadership from the Wisconsin Air National Guard will unveil the unit’s renovated operations center during a 1 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony Apr. 7 at the Volk Field Air National Guard Base.

The newly remodeled facility, to be renamed the Counterland Operations Center, will be integrated with the state-of-the-art training center there, making Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center the premiere Counterland Training facility in the Air National Guard.

The 4,000 sq. ft. facility will offer a modernized workspace that will better meet the security needs of the aircrews coming to Volk Field to train. The updated features of the operations center will also be perfectly suited for next generation fighter aircraft, such as the F-35A Lightening II.

The proximity of the new operations center and its enhanced training capabilities to support next generation assets is also expected to have a positive impact in the upcoming assessment of the 115th Fighter Wing based out of Madison, Wis., which is currently one of five fighter wings vying for a future F-35A mission.
