MADISON –The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Daniel J. Zimmerman made the following statement in support of SJR 30 proclaiming May 2017 as Gold Star Awareness Month:
“On behalf of veterans and their families, I join in honoring and thanking Gold Star families for their sacrifice,” Secretary Zimmerman said. “When a family member makes the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country, we must do all we can to support the family of that fallen hero. We must never forget, as President Reagan said, ‘freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.’”
