Madison, Wis. – On June 19, The Wisconsin Historical Museum, Old World Wisconsin, The Hoard Historical Museum & National Dairy Shrine, and Sassy Cow Creamery will join forces to celebrate National Dairy month with the free, family-friendly event “History on State: Churn Up Your Dairy Pride”.  From 5:00 – 6:30pm, guests will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities that honor Wisconsin’s rich dairying tradition. Participants can help the historic farmers churn butter, learn about early Dairy Co-ops, make cow-crafts to take home, and pose for a photo with the animals.
“Guests will get the chance to immerse themselves in the dairy culture that has played such an integral part in our state’s history,” said Mike Hollander, Wisconsin Historical Museum director.  “In addition to the activities, guests can also treat themselves to a refreshing taste of authentic Wisconsin ice cream from Sassy Cow Creamery.”  This summer, Sassy Cow Creamery has also partnered with Old World Wisconsin to create a special, new ice cream flavor, Honey Bear-y, which celebrates the Laura Ingalls Wilder’s stories of “The Big Woods of Wisconsin”.
The event is part of Downtown Madison BID’s Summer in YOUR City program.  It is free to attend and open to the public. The event will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the stages outside of the Wisconsin Veterans Museum, located at 100 N. Carroll St. In the event of inclement weather conditions, the event will take place indoors at the Wisconsin Historical Museum, located at 30 N. Carroll St. For more information call 608-264-6555 or email museum@wisconsinhistory.org
