State Chamber Supports Continuation of State Assembly Efforts to Review All Regulations
MADISON – Last week Rep. Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan), Co-Chair of the Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules, sent a memorandum announcing the continuation of the State Assembly’s “Red Tape Review” project. This effort, now entering its fifth year, has involved informational hearings of standing committees to review chapters of regulations currently on the books. As part of this review, the committees are looking to make sure regulations are still necessary and up-to-date.
“Burdensome regulations continue to be a significant cost driver for businesses in our state,” said Lucas Vebber, WMC’s General Counsel and Director of Environmental and Energy Policy. “Ensuring our regulations are efficient and up to date will improve compliance, and reduce costs. WMC members appreciate the work that Rep. Ballweg and her colleagues have done to this point and look forward to assisting their efforts this session.”
Legislative standing committees will hold informational hearings this session to review regulations and solicit feedback, all of which are open to the public.
