“Wisconsin Right to Life applauds the passage of the Pain-Capable
Unborn Child Protection Act in the U.S. House,” stated Heather
Weininger, Executive Director of Wisconsin Right to Life. “We thank Speaker Paul Ryan (R, WI-01) for his leadership moving this lifesaving legislation forward, Rep. Sean Duffy (R, WI–07) and Rep. Glenn Grothman (R, WI-06) for co-sponsoring this bill, and Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R, WI-05) and Rep. Mike Gallagher (R, WI-08) for voting in favor of protecting unborn babies who can feel pain.”

On October 3rd, the U.S. House of Representatives voted 237-189 to advance H.R. 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This bill would protect unborn babies capable of feeling pain (at 20 weeks post-fertilization age) from gruesome late-term abortions. H.R. 36 awaits passage in the U.S. Senate, and President Donald Trump has promised to sign this legislation into law once it reaches his desk. In 2015, a similar piece of legislation was signed into law by Governor Scott Walker, which protects approximately 89 unborn babies annually from painful abortions.

“Wisconsin Right to Life looks forward to the U.S. Senate passing H.R.
