Milwaukee, Wisconsin – The Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce announced it will host the first annual Wisconsin Veterans Business Conference on Thursday, May 25 at Concordia University Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Veterans Business Conference is the state’s premiere gathering of Wisconsin’s veteran business community. Notable speakers will include United States Veterans Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Michael Zacchea, Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele, and President and Chief Beer Merchant of the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company Dick Leinenkugel.

“Military veterans are critical to our state’s business community. The selfless service, dedication, and determination instilled in military service members makes them leaders in business and our communities. Veterans are fueling Wisconsin’s economy,” said Saul Newton, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce. “We are proud to bring veteran business owners, veterans friendly businesses, and corporate leaders together to recognize the contributions veterans make to Wisconsin’s economy and our communities.”

The Wisconsin Veterans Business Conference combines a business expo featuring veteran owned and veteran friendly businesses from across Wisconsin; workshops featuring experts and leaders in entrepreneurship, business development, hiring and retention, and community engagement; and an awards luncheon.

“You can’t go wrong when you hire a veteran or support a veteran-owned business,” County Executive Chris Abele said. “Trust me when I tell you I’ve experienced this firsthand — from the Office of Emergency Management and County Parks, to Child Support Services and Facilities Management, Milwaukee County has transformed into a model government, setting national records and delivering high-quality services. The veterans leading those divisions are a big part of our success. Their commitment to public service and getting the job done right the first time is second-to-none.”

“There will be 200,000 service members coming off of active duty each year over the next five years and we owe to those who are serving our nation and who have served our nation to ensure they have terrific job opportunities to continue to give back to our communities in Wisconsin.  Today’s veterans come from our nations’ best trained, all-volunteer fighting force in a generation and our military today is perhaps the most diverse of any work environment. Wisconsin’s businesses can thrive with that type of talent,” said Dick Leinenkugel, President and Chief Beer Merchant of the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company.

The Wisconsin Veterans Business Conference is open to the public at no cost. Tickets for the Awards Luncheon are $75 each. More information is available at
