Governor Scott Walker announced $986,535 in funding for a taxiway design project at the Dane County Regional Airport. The taxiway will be parallel to Runway 14/32.
Matt Messina, EIT, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) says the new taxiway will improve safety and traffic flow of the airport. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Runway Safety Action Team recommended the taxiway to reduce runway incursion potentials.
Funds from the state and Dane County will be used for this project.
- State = $789,228
- Dane County = $197,307
Design is expected to be complete by April 2017. The construction is scheduled to begin July 2017 and be complete July 2019.
Airport improvement projects are administered through the WisDOT Bureau of Aeronautics. Dane County Airport is one of 97 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan, which makes it eligible for state and federal funding.
