Madison, Wisconsin—Heading into a convention featuring a contentious battle for party chair, Wisconsin Democrats are in disarray and Senator Baldwin remains silent on who should lead their party.  U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore and Madison liberal Kathleen Vinehout both endorsed sitting chair, Martha Laning, despite the party’s failures during the 2016 election.  Absent from the fight is Senator Tammy Baldwin, whose silence clearly indicates she has abandoned the state party entirely.

“Not only are Democrats in such disarray that they can’t offer an agenda for hard-working families, they now can’t decide who will lead their party after massive failures during the 2016 election,” said Alec Zimmerman, spokesman for the Republican Party of Wisconsin. “Tammy Baldwin is nowhere to be found and appears uninterested in the fate of her party’s leadership.  Her silence makes clear that even she has jumped ship.”
