WMC launches new coalition to lobby for workers’ comp changes

Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce has launched a new coalition to encourage lawmakers to make a dramatic shift to how doctors are paid under Wisconsin’s workers’ compensation system.
WMC says adding a fee schedule for medical procedures would help bring down the “outrageously high” costs of medical care in the system. But health care groups say it would throw off a structure that’s worked well for Wisconsin, a model that they say ensures injured employees get back to work faster and leads to few lawsuits.
