Political activist David Yankovich, who moved to the 1st CD from Ohio earlier this year to take on Speaker Paul Ryan, today dropped out of the race and endorsed fellow Dem Randy Bryce.

The move comes two days after Bryce announced he had raised $430,000 in just 12 days after announcing his candidacy for the southeastern Wisconsin district.

“I got into this race because someone has to stop Paul Ryan’s dangerous agenda and ‘party before people’ approach to governing,” Yankovich said in a statement. “I still believe stopping Paul Ryan is critically important, but after spending time with Randy Bryce, it’s clear to me that he is the right person for the job.”

Cathy Myers, a Janesville school board member, is also seeking the Dem nomination to face Ryan, R-Janesville, next fall.
