Vukmir campaign: Sen. Baldwin’s prejudice against Christian federal judge appointee Giampetro ‘absolutely appalling’

Contact: Jessica Ward, (608) 213-5939 Brookfield, Wis. — Upon hearing the news that Sen. Tammy Baldwin is calling on President Trump to withdraw the nomination of federal judicial nominee Gordon Giampietro, U.S. Senate candidate and state Sen. Leah Vukmir released the following statement Tuesday: “It is absolutely appalling that in the year 2018, a highly qualified jurist would be denied a chance at serving on the district court not because of his legal qualifications, but because he is a man of faith. Discrimination and religious persecution are never acceptable, and it is despicable that a sitting member of the U.S.

Milwaukee Ald. Pérez: Be responsible behind the wheel

With the weather finally warming up and more of us enjoying what Milwaukee has to offer, I implore drivers to slow down, be alert and be responsible. Just today, out in my district, I saw three serious accidents. Let us not forget that Milwaukee streets truly belong to everyone, including those on a bike or crossing on foot. And with the Milwaukee Police Department, Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin State Patrol teaming up for increased traffic enforcement, it is a perfect time to slow down, be mindful and stop the nonsense of reckless driving.

In 1st SD GOP primary, Jacque emphasizes record, Renard touts outsider status

Republican Alex Renard is looking to paint himself as a political outsider as he prepares to face off against four-term state Rep. André Jacque in the primary for the open 1st SD. The 24-year-old operations manager for Renco Machine Co. in Green Bay, is also touting a series of “government reform” initiatives — as well as his business experience — that he’s looking to bring to Madison. But Jacque, 37 and a full-time legislator, is holding up his “conservative track record” that includes spearheading changes to the state’s criminal justice system; supporting so-called “tort reform” and other regulatory overhauls; and

Milwaukee Ald. Lewis: Statement on traffic enforcement partnership

With the Milwaukee Police Department rolling out its partnership with the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin State Patrol, I am optimistic we can fight the scourge of reckless and irresponsible driving. I have no doubt this traffic enforcement initiative will work as we have already seen glimpses of its success. A previous MPD traffic enforcement surge yielded 400 tickets in just one day in my district. With the amount of overtime needed we could not sustain this alone, so I applaud Chief Morales for coming up with a strategic plan to help maintain order on our streets and ensure
