Head of the Department of Children and Families, Eloise Anderson, missed a deadline Monday when her department failed to respond to requests from Milwaukee area legislators over the dysfunction in the Division of Milwaukee Child Protective Services (DMCPS).

On October 2nd, 11 legislators from the Milwaukee area signed a letter to Secretary Anderson seeking answers for constituents over the Division of Milwaukee Child Protective Services (DMCPS) performance failures. Legislators set a deadline of Oct 15th for the department to respond, and as of this release, there has been no response to the elected officials.

“It is inexcusable that Secretary Anderson is ignoring legitimate questions from elected officials who are trying to secure answers for their constituents,” said Rick Badger, Executive Director of AFSCME Wisconsin. “By failing to respond, DCF is confirming our worst fears about their leadership and is keeping in the dark the very communities they claim to serve. We deserve better from our government.”

The letter (linked above) seeks more information on the failure of DMCPS to meet initial case assessment and resolution deadlines. The latest statistics show over 50% of initial assessments are not completed during the required time frame.
