Statewide: Congressman Mark Pocan, a Democrat representing Wisconsin’s 2nd Congressional District since 2013, has endorsed the candidacy of Mandela Barnes for Lieutenant Governor. Pocan serves on the House Appropriations Committee where he sits on the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services and Education, and the Subcommittee on Agriculture. He is also Co-chair of the LGBT Equality Caucus and Co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC).
Said Pocan: “Mandela Barnes will energize many groups of voters within our Party. Mandela’s combination of experience, passion and fresh ideas make him an ideal choice and I have no doubt he will prove to be an invaluable asset to the Democratic ticket this November.”
For his part, Mandela is extremely grateful for the Congressman’s support.
“Congressman Pocan has been the kind of representative Wisconsin deserves since arriving on the scene in D.C. five years ago. When his colleague from the 1st District refused to hold town halls in 2017 in the midst of trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act, Mark held one for him, giving Kenosha-area residents the chance to be heard on one of the most important issues of our time, our healthcare.”
This endorsement is the first of several to be announced in the coming weeks, as Mandela continues to meet with voters across the state to share his vision of expanding opportunity for all Wisconsinites, by renewing investments in education, healthcare, and a green economy.
