Former UN Ambassador John Bolton’s super PAC is launching a $1 million ad buy that praises Nicholson and says, “It’s time to send a Marine to the U.S. Senate.”
The John Bolton SuperPAC is focusing on Green Bay as a test market for the initial phase of the buy, which starts tomorrow and runs through Jan. 19. It includes a TV, online and radio component, and there are four ads that run from 6 seconds to 90 seconds. The PAC said it plans to study the response before tweaking the spots and going statewide.
In the 30-second version of the ad, Bolton notes two-thirds of U.S. casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan were caused by suicide bombers and improvised explosive devices.
“But courageous patriots like Marine Kevin Nicholson put himself in harm’s way to defuse these tools of terror,” Bolton says in the ad before delivering the line about sending a Marine to the Senate.
Bolton, who served under President George W. Bush, has endorsed Nicholson, and his PAC has donated $10,000 to the former Marine’s campaign.
Illinois businessman Dick Uihlein contributed $100,000 to Bolton’s super PAC in June and $250,000 to it in 2016, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. He’s also contributed to other groups backing Nicholson.
